Obituary of Neftali Garcia

A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Neftali Garcia, 76, of Yonkers, New York passed away peacefully at St John’s Hospital on June 22, 2015 with his family present. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born on April 22, 1939 in the Dominican, Republic, and resided in Yonkers, New York for over 35 years. Growing up he had it harder than most people. Being the creative and determined person he was, he became his own boss as an entrepreneur, building businesses and other activities that brought joy to him and especially his family. He was the ultimate role model for his children and others. He was always prepared and made sure everyone else had what was needed before thinking about himself. By far, the greatest trait he possessed was his tremendous love for his family. Neftali was the quintessential giver of givers. He was married to his wife for 47 years, Maria Consuelo Jimenez de Garcia, of which they had four wonderful children; Nancy J. Garcia, Neftali R. Garcia, Jenny M. Martin, and Judith E. Carter; and they had 7 grandchildren. The wake will be held at Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers New York 10701, on Thursday, between the hours of 4pm to 8pm, on June 25, 2015 . On Friday, June 26th, there will be a mass starting at 10am, located at Saint Peter’s Church. The burial will follow soon after at: Mount Hope Cemetery 50 Jackson Ave Hastings on Hudson, NY 10706 “He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, and he won the race!” His legacy will live on forever.
