Obituary of Louis J. Casagrande

Louis J. Casagrande, age 91, passed away on December 4, 2015 after a long illness, peacefully at his residence. Louis was born in Yonkers on April 3,1924. Louis enlisted in the Air Force during World War II. He served honorably in India, Berma and Pakistan and was awarded the Silver Star. Louis was a faithful parishioner of Saint Dennis Parish and a past president of the Holy Name Society and the Saint Dennis Glee Club. Louis was also a past President of the 8th ward Democratic Club. He married the beautiful Lucy (Picani) on April 18th 1948. They shared a life of over 67 years together and were blessed with 3 loving children. Maria (Casagrande) Marchionni, Philip and John ( predeceased). Also surviving are 2 granddaughters Melody and Alyson and a step grandson and son in law Robert and Robert Jr. Louis worked for Taystee and Wonder Bread as a supervisor and retired as a District Manager and was well respected by his peers. After his retirement he led a very active lifestyle. He was a true sports fan who loved the New York Mets and loved chasing that little white ball. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc. on Monday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9PM. Funeral Service will be at the funeral home at 10AM on Tuesday. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. May the Lord take him and hold him and May he rest in peace in heaven with his beloved son John.
