It's been a week since the passing of Auntie Dee. During this time I have been able to reflect upon her life and the memories I have with her. Unfortunately, sometimes words do not come as easily as we like or do they truly convey the truest feelings inside of us. Sometimes, feelings are too raw and pure to be contained in the confines of letters and a period and in this situation I believe this to ring true.
However, I can offer that Auntie Dee was a beautiful person inside and out. When she walked into a room, she lit it up. A special light that could only come from a person who lived with true passion, generosity and kindness that burned brighter than others. Auntie Dee was someone who would give you her last dollar and the shirt off her back. Personally, she motivated me to be a better person and practice selflessness. She believed in me and made me feel like I could do anything I put my mind to. I believed her and still do. I think she knew what it was like to work hard and see results, which she wanted for me.
I fondly remember her visits to our house on Christmas and other holidays. How she always wanted to have fun. It may have been in the form of sitting around the table talking about the day or going over old memories. Funny memories or sad ones both mixed into a beautiful time of laughter, smiles and fun. Somehow she always made you feel like what you had to say mattered. I remember driving with her for visits to grandma's house and all the special treats she would bring to make her visit just a little sweeter (No, really! She always brought the most beautiful cookies during the holidays).
It is all well and good to go over old memories and cherish them but there is still one aspect that must be attended to: grief. There are no words to express my grief. My heart is broken and stomach twisted in knots. I can't help but replay the happy memories I have with her, but somehow, they have become tinged with sadness because I know there aren't more to be made. Words can't express the loss I feel and how much more lonely the world seems to be. You truly know someone has made an impact on you when you feel this way.
It's amazing to see the loving, sentimental and kind comments about my Auntie Dee. Both at the wake and funeral. I now truly know how special she was to everyone, not just family. Her dedication, tenacity and caring nature can never be duplicated. She truly sparkled. She was my aunt, but also a friend, confidant and personal cheerleader. I will miss you Auntie Dee. I hope you have reunited with grandpa and your infectious laugh unfurls into all the corners of the universe.
Until we meet again.
With love,
Ashlee

Today is a week since we lost our sister Dee. I wanted to share my thoughts as our family mourns our devastating loss.
The loss is heart-breaking as our sister is only 54. Too young to be gone she still had a thousand miles to walk. Too young to be gone she leaves so many dreams unfulfilled. Now the promise of a retirement never realized. It is so unfair. So unjust it overwhelms you in sadness and sorrow. Devastated by our Dad's loss Dee tried to comfort us as she was the one who had her religious faith. But her very words of comfort for us rang hollow for herself, as she struggled with Dad's passing. She gave us all a picture frame with Dad's photo in it for Christmas with instructions to hold it near and dear to our hearts. For her, the picture frame is no longer in her reach. She has gone one better. She is, I am certain, with Dad again, by his side, where no picture is needed and the gentle touch of our Dad's hand fills her with the joy of their reunion. Dad, protect her and hold her near until we are all together again. We love you and always will. You are forever in our hearts and minds...until we see you again. God Speed...
For her beloved husband, Ed, he is in our prayers and thoughts. He demonstrated great strength and dignity this past week. Our pain is compounded when we think of his sorrow. Please pray for Ed and our family, our sad journey through sorrow has just begun.

Dear Abelha & Yapchanyk
When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. Please accept my condolences on the passing of Dee, it was an honor to have known such a great person and I will truly miss her. May God embrace you in comfort during this difficult time. Dee was such a wonderful and giving person, she had the heart of a lion ... responsible, loyal, trustworthy, courageous leader, and treasured and protected friendship and family. Dee was full of wisdom and was always willing to provide advice, and share career and life lessons. She was a beautiful, and joyful person with a great sense of humor and had the best catchphrases. My heart is heavy, but I will always remember and cherish the friendship and grateful for having the opportunity to have known Dee.

One of the biggest things that I will rememeber about Aunt Dee, was the fact that when she spoke to her, the word I was never in her vocabulary. Every time she talk to her nieces and nephews, she always spoke in third person saying, "Aunt Dee Dee is happy to see you." Because she lived so far away, seeing Aunt Dee was something to be excited about. I remember that every time you see her came a different hair style. Every time she saw you, she would smile, and cry when it was time to leave. Aunt Dee was something special. My heart is broken that I will never see the smile of her face. I could write a whole book about my favorite precious memories that I spent with Aunt Dee. I will never forger how special she was, and how she was one of the most important parts of my childhood.

My Beloved Sister Dee Dee is gone. My heart is forever broken. Your kindness and love for me is what I will cherish. Even though you moved far away we still kept in touch. You opened your heart and home to me, Dana, Madison & Kyle for many years. We looked forward to our 4th of July vacations. When others took trips to far away places I just wanted to go to NJ to be with my sister. I am so saddened by your lost and there are moments that I feel I cannot go on. Many times we would just think of each other and we would call one another because we had that connection to each other. I hope that I can feel that same connection to you even though you passed on. My deepest hope is that Dad is there with you in heaven. I hope that you have found some comfort with the recent passing of Dad that now you are together again. I miss my big sister and will look for you in the beautiful sunsets, clouds and rainbows. My thoughts are also with Ed who has become part of our family. He has lost so much. His beloved wife, best friend and companion. I offer him my love and support to continue on life's journey until you and him meet again.
I love you and miss you Dee.

Not only was I fortunate to know and work with Dee, but my wife was honored to share a dinner with her and feels the same pain that we all do....we lost an incredibly special person.
As Dee moved on from our company, she still took several opportunities to drop a note just to see how I was doing. That is the sign of a very special lady.
