Konstantina J. Doufekias, known as Tina, died on Friday, June 24 at the age of 49. Surrounded by her family, Tina passed peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Tina was born on November 27, 1966 in Yonkers, New York, the eldest child of John and Maria Doufekias. Tina grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, and after graduating from high school there in 1984, she attended Fordham University at the Rosehill Campus in the Bronx. She completed her Bachelor of Science in 1989 and went on to achieve a Masters in Elementary School Education.
A talented, and dedicated educator, Tina inspired generations of young students to be inquisitive and to love learning. Kind and generous, Tina was also an inspiration to her wide circle of friends and always encouraged the women she knew to acknowledge their talents and enjoy their successes. Tina's passion for life and beauty was reflected in the joy she brought to everything she did, including her love of sailing.
Tina is survived by her partner of fifteen years, Joseph Colella, her parents, John and Maria Doufekias, her sisters and their spouses, Toula and Bill Pavlides, Niki and Lou Emanuel, Demme and Drew Nord, and her seven beloved nieces and nephews.
Viewing services for Tina will be held at Sinatra Memorial Home (601 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704) on Monday, June 27, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 28, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church (15 Leroy Avenue, Yonkers, New York 10705) on Wednesday, June 29 at 11 am.
