Obituary of Marjorie L. Erf
Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie L. Erf died Tuesday, June 19, 2016, at age 88. Marge (Marjorie Grace Luketich) was born in Henderson, IL, April 19, 1928, the daughter of Croatian immigrants George and Barbara Luketich. She had eight older brothers and sisters, and was named after a then-current song, “Margie”. Marion, her only younger sibling, died as a baby. She attended a two room elementary school. After high school Marge took her first job folding tent tops during World War II. She was always grateful to her older siblings who helped make it possible for her to attend Blackburn College, where she graduated in 1947. Marge worked variously as an accountant, personnel manager, researcher, etc. She married Herbert A. Erf Jr. in Japan on March 20, 1954. After an epic honeymoon half way around the world, and some time in New Jersey, Indonesia, Ohio and Connecticut, they eventually settled in Armonk, New York to raise their children, Herbert and Hillary. Marjorie worked hard to help the young Byram Hills School District, as well as to grow the North Castle Public Library. Husband Herb died in 1973, and Marge continued as an avid watercolor artist, regularly present at the Armonk Outdoor Art Show and other community events. She also enjoyed skiing, tennis, and swimming. A great, fantastic Nana, Marge will be remembered for living adventurously and generously helping others whenever she saw a need. Marjorie is survived by her children, her grandchildren Barbara, Valerie and Taylor, her son-in-law Dusty, and numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
We will celebrate her life at a memorial service on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 1:30 pm, at her home, 2 Elm Place, Armonk, NY.
