Avelino Fragoso, age 91, of Yonkers, NY died peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2016. Avelino was born May 1, 1925 in Mogadouro, Portugal. He served in the Portuguese army before coming to the United States where he spent most of his career as a construction laborer. He was a member of the Westchester Heavy Construction Laborers Local #60. Avelino was also a member of the Portuguese American Club. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Rosa Paulo, his son Octavio Fragoso, his grandchildren Jessica Keener, Melissa Pantoja, Kimberly Tocci and great grandchildren Lilliana May Pantoja and Camilla Rose Pantoja. Friends may call on Thursday 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. The funeral mass will be Friday at 10:00AM at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 15 Palmer Rd., Yonkers. Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson. In memory of Avelino, the family has asked in lieu of flowers if you would please make donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
