Ava my grandma had unwavering faith in God. She prayed, she treasured her rosary beads, she attended mass regularly, and she absolutely loved her faith. In thinking about her passing there is no doubt in my mind she will have a peaceful afterlife in heaven. This keeps me at peace and helps me accept that I must let her go. Go to a place where she can be with Avu again and be with her family. They will dance and sing once more. As I sit here and think about all the wonderful memories of the past I remind myself that I was and I am truly blessed. My Ava was a great cook especially soup. She loved to dance and sing especially in church as loud as she could. I guess that's why I naturally became a soprano in choir. She loved to go on walks and talk to people. For most of my life she was my seamstress; hemming my pants because lord knows they were always too long. She loved her tella novellas and you knew not to interrupt while she was watching. She always had a beautiful garden that was so prosperous. As a kid I spent many sleep overs with her and Avu in Yonkers. These are my most cherished memories. Spending entire days with her. She was my link to my father's Portuguese culture. Reminding me of where we came from. When talking to her she often switched from English to Portuguese and we often just tried to figure it out and went with it. She would laugh when we would say what did you just say. Then she would repeat it in Portuguese again. This always made me smile. She loved and adored my children. She always played with them, held them, feed them and prayed for them. She was a wonderful person and she loved us indefinitely. Rest in Peace<3 Until we meet again "I will pray for you" and "Everything is going to be all right"

Christina, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a great lady and I will always remember her impeccably dressed and always on the dance floor with your dad. To say she was a devoted wife is the understatement of the year! Your dad was lucky man. Today, I pray they are together in heaven enjoying good Portuguese music.
