Obituary of Helen Marie Nicholas

Helen Marie (Drohan) Nicholas, age 92 of Yonkers, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY. Helen was born on August 19, 1924 in Yonkers. Her parents were James and Anna Drohan. She is survived by her two children, daughter Sandra Ann Cossifos of Southbury, CT and her son William Kenneth Nicholas of Yonkers, NY; grandsons Alexander (Kimberly) Cossifos Jr. of Apex, NC and George Cossifos of Norwalk, CT; great-grandchildren A.J. Cossifos and Sydney Cossifos, both of Apex, NC. Sister of the late Noreen Horton from Yonkers, NY. Helen was employed by AT&T in White Plains, NY as an Overseas Telephone Operator for 30 years. Upon her retirement from AT&T, she was a proud volunteer at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY for 10 years. Helen worked in a machinery plant in support of our country during World War II. Anyone who knew Helen knew she was an outspoken individual who was both an avid reader and walker. Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Avenue on Wednesday and Thursday from 5-8 PM. Funeral Service at St. Paul's The Apostle Catholic Church in Yonkers on Friday at 11 AM.
