Obituary of John N. Camerino

John N. Camerino (Johnny Red), 86, a longtime Yonkers resident, passed away Sunday, May 14th, 2017 at St. John's hospital. He was born February 23rd, 1931, in China Town, NY, to the late Joseph and Marie (Iannone) Camerino. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War as a Private First Class. On September 4th, 1955, he married Viola Marino, who predeceased him on March 17th, 2001.
After his service, John worked for many years as a custodian for the City of Yonkers at Mark Twain Middle School and at Yonkers High School of Commerce. He was a member of the local 456 Teamsters and retired in November,1995 with 29 years of dedicated service.
John loved baseball; he was an avid Yankee fan and shared this love with his family. He enjoyed watching wrestling, plays at the Westchester Dinner Theater, and any Western TV show or movie. Most of all, John loved his family. He was a passionate and loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his three sons: Joseph, Thomas (Camille), and Patrick (Carolyn). He also left behind four grandchildren: Kimberly, Matthew, Amanda, and Danielle. John is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Petti of New Jersey. John will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 PM at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. The funeral mass will be Monday at 10 AM at St. Anthony Church, Nepperhan Ave. & Squire Ave., Yonkers. Interment will be in Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale.
