Obituary of Michael S. Mason

Our beloved Michael Steven Mason, son, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, nephew, cousin, best friend to so many and truly a gift from God was born October 11, 1959 to Jean Ruth Mason and Aubrey Jerome Mason, Jr. in Yonkers General Hospital. His earthly days ended all too soon when he was called home to glory on July 7, 2017. Michael who was affectionately called "Mike," grew up with his three sisters. He attended Yonkers Public Schools.Michael applied himself at many jobs, from working in a bakery to employment in a large supermarket chain. However, what he really enjoyed most was working with his hands. Mike could fix anything including cars, household items, whatever needed repairing. He loved helping others, whether they were family or friends. Michael never said "no," but rather said 'what day and time will you need me?"Family and loyalty were very important to Michael. He spent much of his time attending to his Mother, Jean. She knew he would be there to comfort her, take her on appointments, shopping and doing the shopping for her. Aside from Mom, one of his other favorite person's was his grandmother, "Nannie." He enjoyed going to Nepperhan to her home for visits and where there was always work to be done to ensure her wellbeing. Michael cherished his daughters and wanted them to have the best that life could offer. Michael's legacy is his love of family, friends and all who met him. His selfless acts of kindness toward others will always be remembered. Michael is now able to join his son, Steven Michael, maternal grandparents; Edna Ruth, Crombia Ruth, Sr. and paternal grandparents; Hortense Mason, Aubrey J. Mason, Sr. and a host of other family members including uncles, aunts and cousins.Michael lovingly leaves behind to cherish his memory, Parents, Jean Ruth Mason, Aubrey J. Mason, Jr. (Monica); Daughters, Kiwanna, Javanna, Brandi, Makalia: Granddaughter, Jeda; Sisters, Donna, Michelle, Robin, Tiffany and Kimberly; Brother, Kendall; Aunts, Esther (Eugene) Price, Marion Brown, Joan Ruth, Lucille Taylor, Uncles, Guy Ruth, Crombia (Junior) Ruth; his closest and dearest companion, Janice Garner and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Friends may call on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 10AM to 1PM with Funeral Service directly following at 1PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 601 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers. Cremation Services will be held at 2PM at Ferncliff Cemetery, Harstdale, NY.
