Margaret Anne (Sweeney) Kaminski
Margaret Anne Kaminski, 85, lifelong resident of the Bronx and a recent resident of Somers, died December 6, at The NewYork State Veteran's Home at Montrose. Mrs. Kaminski was born February 14,1932 in County Clare, Ireland. She is the daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Nihill) Sweeney. Margaret is survived by her sister, Kay Kiernan. Her twin brothers Eddie and Paddy Sweeney and sister Nora Broe predeceased her. Margaret (referred to as Rita her whole life) traveled by ship to the United States in the spring of 1950. She was only 18 years of age. Rita married Michael (Mickey) Kaminski in 1959 in the Bronx. He predeceased her in 2012. Together they had four children. Rita was a woman of exceptional kindness and patience. She was devoted to her family. Her children's names were often called out as if they blended as one, Rita, Linda, Tina, Joseph. Today they are Rita (Michael) Rogers, Linda (Anthony) Prezioso, Tina Dramen, and son Joseph (Susan Murray) Kaminski. She was a cherished grandmother of eight: Nicole, Keri-Ann, Chelsea, Olivia, Joseph, Hannah, Dylan and Ryan. She was great-grandmother to Theodore Phillips. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday 10 AM at St. Joseph's RC Church Somers, NY. Interment will follow at St. Raymond Cemetery in the Bronx
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations in Rita and Mickey's name. These donations will be used to purchase a park bench. The bench will be for Veteran's and their families to use in the courtyard of The New York State Veteran's Home. Informational brochures indicating exactly how to donate will be available upon request and during wake services.
