Obituary of Veronica "Dolly" Yurus

It is with great sadness that the family of Veronica "Dolly" Yurus (nee Lucas) announces her passing on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the age of 86 years after fighting a long-term illness. Dolly was born on June 29, 1931 to Anna and John Lucas in Yonkers, NY. She and her husband retired to Ellenville, NY after raising a family in Yonkers. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, William, and her children, Linda Yurus, Patricia Yurus, Diane (Paul) Kanakaraj, and William Yurus. Dolly will also be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren, Jonathan Kanakaraj, Pramini (Joseph) Maestas, and Leah Kanakaraj, as well as by her numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and dear friends. Dolly was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Anna Brill, Helen LeCount, Mary Carney, and Elizabeth Kreutzberg, her brothers, John and Michael Lucas, and stepfather Peter Lucas. Dolly was an avid bingo player and Yankees fan, and a devoted, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. Visitations at Community Home for Funerals, 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers NY 10704) on Friday, March 23 from 4-8 PM and Saturday, March 24 from 2-7 PM. Saturday will include a Funeral Service at the Funeral Home.
