Obituary of Teresa R. Barnes

Teresa Rose Barnes of North Salem, NY passed away peacefully on May 23, 2018 at the age of 86. She was born in Mt. Kisco, NY on August 18, 1931. The daughter of Alesio and Elena Fratelli Terracciano. Teresa attended school in Mount Kisco and earned a nursing degree at New York Foundling Hospital. She worked in the nursery and loved caring for the newborn babies at Northern Westchester Hospital. On June 6, 1954 Teresa married Harvey P. Barnes Sr. at St. Francis Church in Mt. Kisco, NY. She was a member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster. In her younger years she enjoyed playing golf, tennis and spent winters in Florida with her husband, Harvey. Her family meant everything to her and she cherished the time spent with them, especially holiday gatherings. She was an avid reader and loved to play games (Poker, Turkey Foot and Skip Bo) with family and friends. She also loved to travel and made several trips to Italy to learn more about her ancestry. Teresa was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harvey P. Barnes Sr. and her brothers: Al, Tony, Joe, Charles, John, Ralph, Nick, Carme and her sister Marie. She is survived by her 5 children: Sharon Clark (spouse Howard), Harvey Barnes Jr. (spouse Lori), JoEllen Bentson (spouse Kevin), Ted Barnes (spouse Susie), Judy McCormack (spouse John), 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Flowers are acceptable, and donations may also be made in her name to St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Brewster, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends at Oelker-Cox and Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 East Main Street, Mt. Kisco, NY, on Tuesday, May 29th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Church at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018.
