Please share a memory of Ena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ena D. Carrington, 86 years of age, peacefully passed away on June 11th at approximately 1:30 a.m.
Ena was born November 14, 1931 in NYC to the late Blanche & George Walwyn. She was one of 7 children. Ena is survived by her siblings Clarissa, Virginia, Joan & Jimmy. Her two other brothers, David & Tommy, preceded her in death.
Ena married the late Ivelaw H. Carrington Sr. on February 5, 1955 and is also survived by her two children, Ivelaw and Yvette, their spouses Linda and Valoyd, and several nieces and nephews.
After staying home to raise her children, Ena received her accounting degree from Manhattan Community College. With that degree and her previous work experience at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, she obtained a position at Harlem Hospital. While there, Ena worked with her daughter Yvette for a period of time, eventually retiring after 25 years of service from Harlem Hospital's Patients' Property Office.
During her life, Ena enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and music in all forms. She was a regular choir member of the Church of the Intersession in Manhattan. While in that choir, she was joined by her daughter Yvette who also sang Soprano. Ena was especially proud that her two children were accepted and graduated from the Fiorello H. Laguardia High School of Music and Art in Manhattan, a school she had hoped to attend when she was younger.
In their retirement, Ena and her husband built and moved into a home in Pennsylvania. After her husband's passing, Ena moved to live near her son and daughter-in-law in Mount Kisco, NY. In August of 2016 they moved together into a townhouse in Briarcliff where she enjoyed home cooked meals and staying in touch with family and friends.
Her children and spouses would like to thank family and friends for their support, kindness and love that they have shown during this difficult time.»(Do not delete this line. It does not print. Text that is to appear on web must be entered before this line)
