Obituary of Maria Capilupi

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maria Capilupi was born August 22, 1933. She passed away August 2, 2018. She was born Maria Nania in Fossato Serralta, Calabria, Italy. She was part of a large family with four sisters and two brothers, who remained very close although they eventually lived miles apart. She married Joseph Capilupi and they immigrated to Bronx, New York for better opportunities. There, they raised their two sons, Thomas and Ralph, and later moved to Yonkers. They were very proud of their sons' successes. She was a very loving, hardworking person. Like many of her generation, she and her husband worked hard for a better life for their family. She taught us all to be accepting of hardships and to always move forward. Maria was a seamstress until her retirement at age 65 and was an excellent "family tailor." Like many Italian mothers, she was a wonderful cook and loved to do it for the family. She lost her wonderful husband in 1990. She has always been a central figure in her family. We will always remember her in her garden, cooking Sunday dinners, and enjoying her grandchildren always with a smile. She was a dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by everyone.
