Obituary of Margaret Assante

Margaret McCarthy Assante of Yonkers NY passed away on December 21st 2018. Born February 3rd 1932 in NYC. She had a wonderful life and will be missed by many.
She worked at Montefiore Medical Center for 30 years, went on to get her Bachelor's degree at the age of 75 from Lehman College. Margaret was a 30 plus year Republican worker and District 1 leader. A volunteer well into her 80's at both St Joseph's Medical Center and St John's Riverside Hospitals. She was the recipient of the Women of Excellence Award in 2013 by the Yonkers Chamber of Commerce. She survived a cruise stranded at sea in 2010 with her senior citizen group from Westchester. Margaret was an advocate and always saw the good in others. She was known for her love of the senior choir, the rosary and quick comebacks. Everyone can think of memorable phrases she taught her family over the years.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, her parents and son in law Luis Marques . She is survived by her sister Gloria Heyden and Trish (Richard) Buckner.
Survived by her 7 children Marie (Joseph) Palladino, William Assante MD, Peggy (Michael) Annecchino, Michael (MaryLou) Assante, Robert (Jackie) Assante, Thomas (Carmen) Assante and Donna (Luis) Marques.
Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren
Visitation will be held at Sinatra's Funeral Home 499 Yonkers Avenue Yonkers, New York
10704, Sunday 2-4 and 7-9pm.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday December 24th at 9:30am at St. John the Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Ave Yonkers, New York
