Please share a memory of Margaret Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Ann Cuffe, of Mount Kisco, NY, passed away on December 23, 2018, at the age of 77, after a short illness. She was born on November 14, 1941 to Francis and Mary Brady (nee Fitzsimons) in Gránard, Longfoirt, Ireland. Margaret was the middle child of eleven brothers and sisters. She immigrated to the United States in 1959 where she joined some of her siblings already living in New Rochelle, NY. Margaret first cared for her nieces and nephews prior to taking a position with Citibank. In 1965, she married Francis J. Cuffe at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle, NY. Margaret's greatest joy were her three children. After spending many years at home raising them, she worked for over 26 years as a teacher's assistant at West Patent Elementary School in Bedford, NY. Margaret was lucky to have made many close friends with whom she enjoyed working while in the Bedford Central School District. She loved running into former students years later and seeing them "all grown up" and finding out where they had ended up in life. While she may not have always recognized them, her students always recognized her and took the time to reintroduce themselves and catch up. This made Margaret very happy. In her retirement, Margaret thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren; they were her pride and joy and she was so very proud of them.Margaret was a kind and caring woman who always had a pleasant word and a devoted interest in her family, friends and loved ones. Her lilting Irish accent could still be heard even though she had left her homeland as a teenager and had been living in the United States for most of her life. Her caring heart made her so generous in so many ways—both big and small.Margaret is survived by her loving children: son James (Luci) Cuffe of Mohegan Lake, NY; daughter Lisa Cuffe of Katonah, NY; and son Frank (Terri Giammichele) Cuffe of Manhattan, NY; her cherished grandchildren: Jack, Henry and Gretchen Gilroy; her brother Michael Brady of Fort Mill, SC and her sister Christina (John Joseph) Brady of Cortober, Arvagh, Ireland; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband. Her family will be holding a wake on Thursday, January 3 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 East Main St., Mount Kisco, NY, (914) 666-5891. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 4 at 11:30am at the St. Francis of Assisi Church, in Mount Kisco, NY, (914) 666-5986. Internment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, in Mount Kisco, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Margaret's name to the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Inc., 310 Lexington Ave., Mount Kisco, NY 10549 www.mkvac.org/content/donate/.
