Obituary of Joseph J. Cerbone
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph J. Cerbone passed away on January 26, 2019 at the age of 84. Born to Thomas and Mary Cerbone, Joseph was a lifelong resident of Mount Kisco, New York. He served his community as an attorney, town justice, and was a member of the Mount Kisco Fire Police. Mr. Cerbone honorably served his country with the United States Army from 1957-1959 in Korea.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, "Joe" loved living in Mount Kisco. He was a familiar face to many as he would walk around the village daily in the years before his illness. The clear and uplifting tune of his whistle could be heard around town; a talent he inherited from his father. Mr. Cerbone never married, a detail of his life that he frequently joked about with friends and acquaintances.
All who met Joe were blessed to be in the company of such a genuine, gentle man with a youthful spirit and a deeply generous heart. Above all else, his life was dedicated to the care of his mother and sisters. Devoted son, loving brother and adored uncle, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Joseph’s parents, his sister, Marie and brother, Vincent, predeceased him. He is survived by his sister, Lucy A. Cerbone of Mount Kisco, and his nieces, Lisa C. Abzun of Mount Kisco, Mary Jean Erkan (Alpar) of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and his grandnieces, Caroline, Kathleen, Mili and Ivy. The family would like to thank all of the friends who have offered innumerable prayers and acts of kindness during his illness. Kindly consider making a donation in his memory to St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Mount Kisco, or to a charity of your choice. May he rest in peace. Amen.
