Resolution in Gracious Memory of Leonard N. Spano
To: The Families of Leonard N. Spano,
Yonkers’ Community at Large, Westchester Clergy & Political Leaders
On this Eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord Two Thousand Nineteen, we the Pressley Memorial Church of God in Christ Family of Yonkers, New York hereby extend our heartfelt condolences to the Spano families, wife Josephine lifelong companion, Yonkers’ Community, Westchester Clergy & Political Leader, and on the passing of our late Leader Leonard N. Spano.
Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. It is often said, “sorry for your loss”. We believe to quote Church of God in Christ, General Supervisor Emeritus Willie Mae Rivers “no one is ever lost when you know where he or she is”. Leonard N. Spano will forever remain in the memories of the people and in your hearts. According to God’s tender mercy, Leonard N. Spano has been called from labor to reward. He has simply gone ahead of us on February 10th, 2019. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Co. 5:8 KJV
WHEREAS, we believe the words of our Lord Jesus according John chapter14: “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And, if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also.”
BE IT RESOLVED, that we embrace the families with compassion and will continue to keep you in our prayers as you go through this period of bereavement. Let us celebrate the life and the legacy of Leadership, Leonard N. Spano a faithful Christian Soldier, who served well in the work of the Lord.
Humbly submitted in the Lord,
Pastor Cecilio Edwards & Members of
Pressley Memorial Church of God in Christ
38 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers, N.Y. 10701

As a young boy and later as a young adult I knew of no finer man than Leonard Spano. At first I was a bit intimidated by his imposing figure. But, His son was the best friend I’ve ever had, so I was around a lot. I got to know him as a gentle and caring man who treated me as one of his own. This in itself was so amazing as he actually had sooooo many of his own. Mr. Spano had such a strong influence in my young life. I admired him greatly and he was like a second dad in my heart. He helped me in so many ways. One reason why i wanted a lot of kids in my own marriage was due to observing his incredible love and devotion to all of his.
I have long since left New York and its been so many years since I’ve seen Mr. Spano. But, I followed along through social media and saw his continued love and devotion to his wife and children and grandchildren so many that they could comprise a football team. This was the Leonard Spano I knew and the one I’ll never forget. Mr. Spano, May you rest in eternal peace and may your life be a symbol to all of what’s good in this world
Love,
Joe Teta
