Obituary of Carlos Luis Gonzalez

Please share a memory of Carlos to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carlos Luis Gonzalez was born to Concepcion Gonzalez and Ines Rodriguez in San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 15, 1950. He was the middle child of nine siblings: Victor, Rosa, Concepcion, Luis, Rafin Raymond, Richard, and Nelson. At the very young age of thirteen he met his soon to be lifetime love Evelis Monserrati. The two of them dated and were married on January 20, 1967. Together they shared fifty five years of life. They raised three children; David, Jacqueline, and Priscilla. He was the grandfather to Joel and Jeremy, and great grandfather to Vashaun, David, Gabriel, Mansa, and Abigail. Carlos was a spiritual, trustworthy, loyal, good hardworking soul. He retired from the U.S. Post office and from the N.Y. Transit department. He was a homebody that enjoyed playing his guitar, singing, and watching classic movies. He also loved to gamble always hoping for the big one so that his family would be comfortable. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family. There was never a visit were he didn't try to get you to eat something. There wasn't an occasion that he did not offer his help. He was a mentor to his nieces and nephews and full of old time advice. He focused on always trying to do the right thing. Carlos was a funny man with an infectious laugh. When faced with a challenge his phrase of preference was "listen, listen, it's going to be easy, a one, two operation" and then he would try to allocate the task to the person he was speaking to. Carlos was loved and will be truly missed by many. His simple ways kept you coming back for more and smiling. The Gonzalez family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness that all have shown us during our time of bereavement. We thank God for the privilege to have such an honorable man in our life and know that now he is at peace resting and enjoying the company of all our other family and friends in Heaven. We pray that God will continue to bless you and keep you.
