Obituary of Frank Aulicino
Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank E. Aulicino, 84 of Yonkers, NY, passed away on May 31, 2019. Frank's story starts in Yonkers, NY on April 21, 1935, son of the late Frank Aulicino, and Estelle Aulicino (DiBenedetto). Frank grew up with two brothers, Ciro and Daniel. Frank married the love of his life Maria LaBarbera on September 8, 1956. Shortly thereafter in April of 1957 he joined the service, more specifically, the Army. After the Army, Frank joined the Teamsters Local 456 and retired as a Master Steward. He was also an active member of the Armando Rausso Post #40. He was a volunteer for the Veterans in Westchester County. He always enjoyed a backyard barbeque where he could play Briscola, Scopa and Morra. In the early 1970's, he found a new way to have fun, he bought a motorhome. We spent many a weekends traveling from as far north as Quebec & Montreal and all the way down to Miami. Oh the fun times we used to have. Remembering the weekends at Long Beach Island in the summer and the winter trips to Sullivan County. Speaking of Sullivan County, who can forget the weekends at the Pines Hotel and all of the Sunday trips to go back there to ski. Breaker 1…9 Breaker 1..9…this is the ski van…as we used to call ourselves. I am sure everyone can remember those infamous ski suits that Frank came up with, you remember the blue and white, the brown and white, the red and white….those were some good times. He even found Big Birch, a mountain in Patterson, NY that had night skiing. It was so much fun to ski at night under the lights.
Sad part about this story is Dimentia, it is a really tough disease to get to know. One minute you are here and normal and the next, you start to forget who you are, who your family is and it is a slow draining ordeal. It isn't until you are close to someone that has this affliction, that you realize how widespread it is. There are more people that have this then you can comprehend. Well enough about that…..the important message is:
A beautiful life that came to an end, he died as he lived, everyone's friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept, of one we loved and will never forget.
Frank is survived by his wife Maria, his two brothers, Ciro and Daniel, his daughter Maria, and son-in-law Dennis Buonocore of Armonk, NY, and his son, Frank and daughter-in-law Jeanne of Yonkers. He is also survived by his loving granddaughters, Patricia, Jeanmarie and Mandina.
To Frank, our friend, in the immortal words of Bob Hope,
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES……
