Obituary of Gemma Mary Mistal

Gemma Mary (Aurigemma) Mistal passed away peacefully June 25 2019 at Sharon Heathcare Center in Sharon CT surrounded by loved ones. She was born August 25 1938 in Brooklyn NY to Edith May Carlisle and Silvio Aurigemma. She attended St. Ambrose School in Brooklyn and later moved to Yonkers NY and graduated Sacred Heart High School in 1957. She married Louis Pica in 1958 and had six children. She later married Robert Paul Mistal formerly of Yonkers NY and enjoyed 34 fulfilling years until his passing in November 2018. She worked many years at Yonkers General Hospital as a nurse aide and retired from Northern Dutchess Hospital, Admitting office. She was loved by many and touched many people's hearts in her 80 years. She is survived by six children, TinaMarie (Joe) Kowalczyk of Gaylordsville CT, Fred (Kim) Pica, Louis (Donna) Pica of Pittsboro NC, Edith (Kevin McEwan) Pica of Shrub Oak NY, Theresa (Michael Murtha) Pica of Warwick RI and Anthony Pica of Red Hook NY. She is also the beloved grandmother of Amie and Louis Pica, Nicole McNeill, Daniel and Tony Pica, Steven Pica, Andria and Christi Kowalczyk, Jennifer Vario and Leah, Ashley and Andrew Pica. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Brianna and Isaac Pica, Alana and Lucas McNeill, Cameron and Miles Pica, Aiden and Madison Pica. She will be waked at Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers NY, 10704 on Friday June 28 from 4-8PM. A Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 70 Park Hill Ave, Yonkers NY, 10701 on Saturday June 29 at 10AM. Interment services for both Gemma and Robert Mistal will be held on Thursday July 11 at 1PM at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Chapel of Hope, Saw Mill River Rd and Jackson Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson NY 10706.
