Obituary of Giovanni DeFeo
Please share a memory of Giovanni to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Giovanni DeFeo passed on July 11, 2019, at the Milstein Hospital (Manhattan) after a nearly year long fight with a rare and often misdiagnosed disease, known as AL Amyloidosis. In the hopes of finding a cure for others, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, you consider a donation to the Amyloidosis Foundation. (information below).
Giovanni (John to many) is survived by his children, Julianna, John, and Amanda, mother and father, Antonietta and GIovanni, Sr. and siblings Olimpia and Antonio. He recently became a Great Uncle and he would have had that honor twice with the impending arrival of second baby later this month.
John worked for years at Pitney Bowes in Connecticut as a technician on some of company's most cutting edge printing and publishing equipment. He was technically proficient at many things and despite a motorcycle accident years ago that saw the insertion of a titanium rod in his leg and massive surgical reconstruction of one of his hands, John was a master of precision and detail-oriented work, electrical, automotive and the like.
Those that new him knew his generosity, humor and compassion. He was born in Yonkers, where he ultimately resided while being treated for his affliction. He will forever be missed and his smile cannot be forgotten. John, please shine your perpetual love on your children and us all. Be their guardian angel and guide those you've trusted to help them on their paths. A love like yours will continue to inspire us all.
