Obituary of Peter T. Bernardini

Peter Thomas Bernardini, age 92, of Yonkers died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, July 24, 2019. Peter was born September 10, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY the son of the late Dewey and Michaelina (Mauriello) Bernardini. He proudly served in the Army during World War II, he was stationed in Okinawa and the Philippines. Peter met his bride and beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Lourdes (Almeida) Bernardini and were married on October 9, 1955. Peter enjoyed a lifelong career as a pattern grader for woman's apparel in the garment district in NYC. Peter most especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing and watching the NY Yankees, his favorite baseball team. Peter was an exceptional magician, his passion for magic was to bring joy to those who watched him perform. His favorite audience were his children and beloved grandchildren. Peter is survived by his loving wife Mary, his beloved children; Peter (Ana), MaryLou (Joe) Brusco, Paul, Michele (Orest) Sochan and Philip. Devoted grandfather of 10 cherished grandchildren: Joseph, Michael (Maria), Daniel (Jocelyn), Nicolette, David, Nicholas, Thomas, Anthony, Alexis and Kaitlyn. Also, his two adoring great-granddaughters, Mary Lourdes and Isla Grace, will all forever miss him dearly. Peter was pre-deceased by his brother Dewey. Friends may call on Friday from 4PM to 8PM at Sinatra Memorial Home, Inc., 499 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, NY. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 at St. John The Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Calvary Hospital in his memory.
