Brenda Mclendon – Mims was born on June 14, 1947 in the Bronx, NY to Dorothy and Edward McLendon. Brenda attended P.S. 43 and P.S. 188 in Brooklyn, New York. In 1961, the Brenda and her family moved back to the Bronx and she attended James Monroe Junior High School and ultimately graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx. Brenda furthered her education at Bronx Community College majoring in Business Administration. Brenda was married to Alfred Campbell and subsequently married David Mims (who pre-deceased her). Brenda, a loving mother of three is survived by her three children, Alfredo Campbell, Brandi Campbell and Christopher Mims. She is a beloved grandmother to DeVonee Campbell and Kalani Mims and two great grandchildren, Aubrey and Ayden. Brenda is also survived by her sister Carol Gresham and Dolores Wood (deceased) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Brenda's lived in Germany for two years and upon her return to the United States in 1967, she began her long career in the health industry at a nursing home in the Bronx. She subsequently worked at Yonkers General Hospital and for many years worked simultaneously at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, NY. Brenda continued her career and service to the community at Lawrence Hospital, now known as New York Presbyterian Hospital in Bronxville New York/Eastchester, NY., where she continued to work until her illness. Brenda had many friends and used her wit and charm to make them laugh. Brenda loved being with people, helping people in need, and congregating with people regardless of where they were from and by what means they came to be. She was a loving and caring person. Most of all, she loved each of her children, Alfredo, Brandi and Christopher, her granddaughters, DeVonee and Kalani and her great grandchildren, Aubrey and Ayden unconditionally. From the children: To our Mom, Grandma, Great Grandmother and Sister, you will always be loved and forever missed. The family wishes to thank everyone for their calls, texts, cards and prayers.
