Olga Blecker (Melnyk) passed away on September 4, 2019 at the age of 105 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers, NY. Olga was born in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania to Paul and Pelagia (Romanetz) Melnyk on August 12, 1914, she then relocated to Yonkers, NY at the age of 15. She was a Home Maker and also worked at Habirshaw Factory in the 40's to help with the World War II efforts. She was passionate about flowers, plants and jarring fruits. Renowned for her knitting skills., as well as cooking Ukrainian dishes, pies and her famous butter cookies. She was an ardent and voracious reader. Olga was predeceased by her devoted husband, John Blecker as well as 6 brothers and sisters. Loving mother to Nancy Kissam and John (Denise) Blecker. Adoring grandmother to Kyra, Cassidy (Zoe) Kissam, Lillie (the late Ellis) Younger and Victoria (Steven) Bonifacio, as well as 6 great-grandchildren. Friends may call the Sinatra Memorial Home at 499 Yonkers Avenue on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from the hours of 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Funeral Service will also be held at the Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, followed by a burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
