Thomas R. Cobelli (Tommy), 71, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. In his last days and months, he was constantly surrounded by his family and friends. Tom was born on August 20, 1948 to Edward and Mary (Rossi) Cobelli in Yonkers.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife Angela (Vitulli) of 49 years, and his mother-in-law Eleonora. He is also survived by his children Thomas (Luiza ), Crista (Vinny) Castelli and Vincent (Alessandra). Tommy was affectionately referred to as "Papi" by his six grandchildren, Kayla, Nina, Giovanni, Alyssa, Jessica and Marino. He treasured his grandchildren more than life.
Tommy is also survived by his siblings John (Terri), Sandy, Ed (Mirella) and Susan along with many nieces and nephews. Tom grew up with closely bonded cousins, especially Bobby, who was like a brother to him. He was also adored by his sister in laws, Regina, Michele and Marina. Richie, another close family member, was a constant in Toms final days as he visited him every morning.
Aside from his family and friends, Tom was particularly loved by every child and animal he met. Tom is predeceased by his treasured canine companions Cotti and Kato.
Angela was Tom's most loyal and loving soulmate. Their marriage exemplified true love. Over the course of 49 years, Angela was many things to Tom but in his final days, Angela served as wife, caregiver, and nurse to name a few. She made sure that he remained at home surrounded by his loved ones until his final moments.
Tom was a proud City of Yonkers Employee. He first worked in the Department of Public Works and then transferred to the Water Treatment Plant. His friends on the job shared so many fond memories of him. After 30 years of service to the city, Tom enjoyed his 2nd home in Murrells Inlet, SC. There he enjoyed his time with Uncle Joe and Aunt Karen. He also enjoyed golf with his buddies. Most of all, he enjoyed Sundays with his family.
Many of Tom's friends and family will remember him for his generous spirit and his playful nature. He loved making people laugh. His ability to lend a helping hand will remain unmatched. His rebellious nature and sense of humor will always stick with those who knew and loved Tom.
