Madeline - "Mags" or "Maggie" Angelillo Cullen, a 54 year resident of Mount Kisco passed away peacefully at Northern Westchester Hospital on September 27, with family at her side and just a week before her 94th birthday. Madeline was born on October 5, 1915 in Thornwood, NY to Sabato Angelillo and Felice Vecchiarelli Angelillo. She was a 1933 graduate of Pleasantville High School, a 1936 graduate of the State Normal School for teachers at New Paltz and earned a BS degree from Teachers College of Columbia University in 1941. She began her career in elementary education at Thornwood School. She married Daniel P. Cullen of Pleasantville on May 7, 1944 and accompanied him to Texas late in WWII. She continued teaching there and on her return to Thornwood. She returned to teaching full time in the 1960s after caring for her young children and retired from the Bryam Hills School District in 1979. She had touched many young lives. Madeline then began her next career in community service. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Gift Shop of Northern Westchester Hospital with over 4,000 volunteer hours. She was a member and officer of the Mt. Kisco Senior Citizens Group. She was an active member of the F.I.S.H. of Mt. Kisco, attending her last board meeting just a week ago. Madeline was a long-time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Mount Kisco and supported many charities. Madeline was a warm and generous person, a loving mother, a devoted Nanna and a caring neighbor. She was a teacher by training but taught us all by her example. She will be missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sisters Louise Miccuci, Sue Klaus and Mary McGourty, her brothers Clem (Kiddo) and Henry and by cherished nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son Daniel Scott of Mt. Kisco, daughter and son-in-law Patrice and Michael Heyes of Rome, NY, granddaughters Meghan and Michelle Heyes and many nieces and nephews. She was proud to be the matriarch of six generations and took joy in them all. Visiting 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday and 8:45-9:30AM Thursday at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E. Main Street, Mt. Kisco, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mt. Kisco, NY. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Madeline's name to the Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation or to the F.I.S.H. of Mt. Kisco, Box 66, Mt. Kisco, NY.
