Obituary of Sean J. McDermott

Please share a memory of Sean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sean McDermott was born on October 29th, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York. He was a beloved son to his parents, Bridgette (Bridey) and John McDermott. His parents then settled in Yonkers, New York, where Sean grew up. Sean was a 47 year member of Iron Workers Local 40, a job he took great pride in. Sean was a first responder during 9/11/2001, and worked in the rescue and recovery efforts. Sean helped erect the World Trade Center, and on that fateful day, he responded to our Country's cry for help, working day and night for over a month. Sean worked as a General Foreman for Koch, Koch-Skanska, and Skanska-Koch for 20 years. Sean is known for being a man of few words, but also one of great action. He was the cornerstone of his family, and did everything and anything for those he loved. He is survived by his brother Kevin, his sisters Eileen and Maureen, his wife Karen, his nephew Timothy, his son Stephen, and his future daughter in law, Taylor. Sean was a man of great honor, integrity, and wisdom. He loved his family unconditionally, and adored his son. He will be forever missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Sean's memory.
