Gabriella Szabóvá-Jager, 74 years of age, passed away on December eighth, 2019 in Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY.
Gabriella Szabóvá-Jager was born in Vel'ké Kapušany, Czechoslovakia (today Slovakia) to Zlatica Juhasz-Szabóvá and Jozef Szabó on April first, 1945. She attended Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice, Slovakia and graduated in 1968 from the college of Education with a concentration in Russian History. She worked as a primary grade schoolteacher before migrating to the United States of America.
Residing in Queens, NY, Gabriella Szabóvá-Jager continued her education as a non-matriculated student at Baruch College taking courses in English and Math to learn and master the English language. She enjoyed reading biographies, novels, historical and current events, as well as cooking her Hungarian specialties and knitting clothing for her family.
Gabriella Szabóvá-Jager is preceded in death by her parents Zlatica Juhasz-Szabóvá and Jozef Szabó, her brothers and sister Jozef Szabó, Elemer Szabó, and Zlatica (Aranka) Szabóvá.
Gabriella Szabóvá-Jager is survived by her brother Vojtech (Béla) Szabó, children Gabriella Ann Sierra and Leslie Michael Jager, her grandchildren Gabriella Clemencia Sierra and Jose Miguel Sierra Jr., her nieces and nephews Hermína Baloghová, Ildiko Dubecky, Anna Nagy, Elemer Szabó Jr., Jozef Szabó, Vojtech Szabó Jr., Ildiko Szabóvá, and Maria Szabóvá.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm & 5pm to 8pm at Community Home For Funerals Inc., 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Monastery Church, 110 Shonnard Place, Yonkers. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Yonkers.
