Assunta “Sue” DeGirolamo (Bove) passed away in the comfort of her family on January 17th, 2020 in Bronx, New York at the age of 96. Sue is survived by her son, Francis J. DeGirolamo; grandchildren, Joanna C. Whitman, Michael A. Malizia, Jr and Nicholas S. Malizia; great-grandchildren Wyatt R. Whitman and Audrey Ann Malizia. She is also survived by her sisters, Antoinetta Rezko and Angelina Bove as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas J. DeGirolamo; daughter, Antoinette A. Malizia; and sister, Concetta Mozzillo. Sue was born on October 10th, 1923 in Bronx, NY to Concetta and Alfonso Bove. She married the love of her life, Nicholas, on January 28, 1951. She worked for the New York City Department of Education and cared for her two children, Francis and Antoinette. Just when she thought her work as a mother was done, Sue became a grandmother to three loving grandkids and set about teaching them life’s most valuable lessons and how to make ‘gravy’ for Sunday dinner. Most recently, she became a great-grandmother to two young toddlers and enjoyed cradling them in her arms, waiting for the day they would grow up to become the same kind-hearted person that she was. Sue was the life of the party and always enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking her favorite Italian dish, Pasta Piselli, playing Bingo, working on her arts and crafts, and whistling the tunes of Dean Martin. She will be incredibly missed by all who knew her and all the lives she’s filled with love and food. She will always be remembered for her generosity, humor, and unconditional love. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of our beloved Sue. Hours of Visitation are Monday, January 20th 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00pm at Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY.
