Robert Eugene Brennan
November 4, 1946 - January 21, 2020
Robert Eugene Brennan left us on January 21, 2020. We are devastated without your wisdom, guidance, and support.
Robert was born on November 4, 1946 at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, New York to Mary and Martin Brennan. He grew up in Roselle Park, New Jersey. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lynne Brennan, and 2 children, Scott and Janine; as well as two grandchildren Jack and Olivia Brennan (children of Scott and Laura Reguero-Brennan). Many friends looked up to and respected Robert; from his career at The Bank of New York, Chemical Bank, and Drydock Savings Bank, Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and those he served with in the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1972. Robert graduated from Roselle Park High School on June 16, 1964, where he was a star runner on the track and cross country teams. He was a talented and dedicated runner, making it to the New Jersey State Championships, where he ran a 4:32 mile. He exhibited an early interest in economics and financial markets while attending Bowling Green State University. This interest would, in time, turn into a lifelong passion and pursuit. Robert also worked full time to help put himself through college. When he took a semester off to pick up another job to continue paying his tuition, he was drafted into the United States Army. Believing he would be better suited as a Marine, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on September 16, 1966. He faithfully and valiantly served during his active duty deployment, which took him to Quantico, Virginia, San Diego, California, Okinawa, Japan, and Vietnam. He had a specialization in Rockets, achieved the rank of Corporal, and was awarded the National Defense Medal. After his service, he was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal on July 21, 1972. After leaving the service, he continued his education at Bowling Green with a focus on economics, which led to a long and distinguished career in banking. He married his loving wife, Lynne, in 1979 and was a great father to Scott and Janine. In retirement, Robert maintained an intense passion for the study of financial markets which gave him a great sense of purpose and enjoyment.
We will always remember Robert's bright blue eyes and his infectious laughter, which always brought joy to the entire room. He had great sense of humor and we can only aspire to reach his level of integrity, honesty, and good character. He had a sincere love of family and was a natural protector. He was a warm man, a great listener, and was as wise as he was strong. He loved fishing and peace and quiet. While an Irishman at heart, he was also a great American patriot. Robert touched many lives and will be remembered fondly. The world was a far better place while he was with us. Robert was deeply loved and will be forever missed. We have and always will love you. We truly thank Robert for his courageous service to our great country.
Services will be held at the Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Ave., Valhalla, New York on Saturday, January 25th at 11:00 a.m.
