Obituary of Nicholas Fiore
Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nicholas B. Fiore passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Nicholas "Nick" was born in Bronx, NY on November 11, 1936. In his youth, he spent many summers vacationing in Valhalla and shared fond memories of his time there. Nick served in the army and was a proud veteran. He married Linda R. Fiore in 1966 in Westchester, NY. In the 1970s and 1980s, he was a very successful real estate broker in Manhattan.
Nick was a lifelong member of the New York Athletic Club. He was an avid athlete, playing basketball and swimming at the NYAC in the city, and playing tennis all summer long at Travers Island. He also had a passion for soccer and loved watching and talking about the games.
Nick had a big personality. He loved to tell stories and joke around. He was an encyclopedia of information with an uncanny ability to remember historical events and dates. As he liked to say, he knew a little something about a lot of things.
Nick was a beloved father to John Fiore and Tina Sozen, and a proud, loving grandfather to Lila and Evan Sozen. Every time he visited, he would have a lollypop behind each ear for them.
Nick was predeceased by his wife, Linda R. Fiore, his parents, Anne Fiore and Nicola Fiore and his sister, Rosemarie Schwenzer. He is survived by his son, John Fiore, Mahopec, NY; his daughter, Tina Sozen, son-in-law Metin Sozen, granddaughter, Lila Sozen and grandson, Evan Sozen, Sleepy Hollow, NY; his niece Karen Schwenzer, Charlottesville, VA; his nephew Robert Schwenzer, Center Moriches, NY; his cousins, Joseph P. Lombardi, New York, NY and Phyllis Bellio, Scarsdale, NY; sister-in-law Nancy Tudor, Lexington, KY; his nephews, Marc Frisiello, Lexington, KY and Rick Frisiello, Boston, MA.
Funeral mass will be held on January 31, 2020 at 10am at Catholic Church of St. Matthias, 109 Babbitt Road, Bedford Hills, NY 10507
