Obituary of Nancy Weinberg
Please share a memory of Nancy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Monday, January 27, 2020, Nancy (Annabelle Warmflash) Weinberg, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 in Yonkers, NY.
Nancy was born April 22, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Jean (Goldin) Warmflash. She married Marvin Weinberg in Manhattan in 1955. They subsequently moved to Hastings-on-Hudson, NY in 1959, where they raised their three sons and were active in the community through mid-1980s. They later moved to Irvington, followed by Yonkers.
Nancy had a passion for the arts, especially music (BA Music Brooklyn College). She was a supportive teacher, sharing her love through piano instruction, and leading "Rhythm band" pre-school music classes out of her home and at the Hastings Community Center.
While busy with her three boys, she found time to be a Cub Scout leader and be active in the school PTA. Later, she was involved in politics -- she was elected the first president of the combined Young Men's and Women's Young Republican Club of Westchester and a candidate for public office. She stayed busy throughout her life, working side-by-side with her husband Marvin as he started his own direct mail marketing/fundraising business, Quality Letter Service, in New York City.
Nancy shared a love for adventure with Marvin, and they were fortunate to travel all over the world on many adventures. She loved their travel to Europe, enjoying relaxing cruises through rivers like the Danube. Finally, she found some time to relax in their second home in Quechee, VT, where she was an avid skier, wowing everyone with her prowess on the slopes! She loved to entertain family and friends in their Vermont retreat.
Along with Marvin, they became founding members of Temple Beth Shalom in Hastings-On-Hudson in the 1960s. Later, they became active members at Congregation Shir Shalom in Woodstock, VT.
Sadly, but with the utmost dignity, Nancy fought a courageous 8-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Marvin, sons Edward, Robert and Gary, grandsons Stephen and Jeremy, her brother Dr. Bernard Warmflash, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Jean and Joseph Warmflash and her brother Dr. Stanley Warmflash.
The family will be holding a Funeral Service at the Sinatra Memorial Home (499 Yonkers Ave.) at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 3, 2020 and then proceed to Maimonides Cemetery, 895 Jamaica Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11208.
Shiva to follow.
