Obituary of Margaret McGown
Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Mc Gown (Nee, Sweeney) a resident of Yonkers NY, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving Family.
Margaret was born December 31, 1929 in Dumbarton Scotland, and immigrated to America in October of 1956 with her late Husband, Andrew Scott Mc Gown. She brought with her courage, pride, strength of will, and faith.
A practicing Catholic, it was her faith that kept her involved with the Church as she became a well-known and valuable member of her local parish at St. Paul's Church.
A loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, Margaret left a mark with all those around her. Whether it was the pleasing ring of her Scottish brogue, the warmth of her infamous shortbread, or the power of her quietly uncompromising character. The mark will be carried by her loved ones as a constant reminder to be formidable and still compassionate, vulnerable and still brave, vigilant and still loving.
Margaret is survived by her Daughter, Theresa Yacovacci, her five Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren
At a time to be determined Margaret will be laid to rest with her beloved Daughter Shona at the Gate of Heaven, Hawthorne, NY.
In Margaret's memory a charitable donation to the WARC of Westchester is greatly appreciated.
