John Turnbull
John Turnbull 63 passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 3, 2020 at the Columbia Presbyterian University Medical Center, in New York City, NY.
He was a lifelong native of New York and loved being a New Yorker. Born in the Bronx on March 5, 1957 to the late John Joseph Turnbull and Lorraine Bayersdorfer.
John was educated in the Mount Vernon, NY school system in the 1960's and 1970's and moved to Yonkers, NY where he remained a resident until his death.
He felt a strong need to help renew and revitalize the area in which he lived and with little resources created a small start up construction and contracting company named J & Jr. Home Improvements, taking on the challenge of improving the homes and lives of many in the community and beyond.
John loved the outdoors, nature, watching animals in their habitat, bicycling around the city of New York, and spending quality time with friends and family. He brought a whole new meaning to recycling and bringing trash to treasure and could often be found in his workshop creating something beautiful from something old and battered. It was with great pride that he would deliver his re-creation to its new owner. He was a giver in the true sense of the word. Always giving his time, kindness, caring, compassion, love, and even advice to all those he sensed were in need. Asking nothing in return but just reminding all to always "Pay it forward" and to "Always do the next right thing"
To cherish his memory he is survived by his former partner and dear friend Faith Duckworth, his son John Turnbull Jr., his daughter in law Jackie Collins Turnbull, his beloved grandchildren Kacie, Lindsay, and Mason Turnbull, his sisters Jacqueline Turnbull, Carole Turnbull, Lorraine Latham, Margaret Fragoso and husband Angelo Fragoso Sr., June Gotta and husband Ron Gotta, niece Lori DiMarco, her husband Tony and daughter AnnaLynn, his additional 9 adored nieces and nephews, his many great nieces and nephews, and his longtime friends considered brothers Silvio Dimeglio, and Frank Viteretti.
A Celebration of Llife will be held in the future.
In lieu of flowers please "Pay it Forward"
