Obituary of Jacqueline Marschke

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife and grandmother, Jackie, on April 8, 2020, at the Paramount at Somers Nursing Facility. Jackie is survived by her daughter, Linda and son Brett (wife, Rima) as well as her grandsons Jack, Connor and Rhys. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Norman; who passed in 2001, her sister Dorothy Kurz, of Philadelphia, and her brothers Wesley Jones and Howard Winter, both of Baltimore. Born on November 28, 1931 in Evanston, Illinois, to John T. and Mary B. Jones, Jackie was raised in Bronxville, New York. She graduated from the St. Mary's Episcopal School for Girls (in Peekskill, NY) and Elmira College (in Elmira, NY), with a dual major in French and Sociology. After graduation, she became a social worker for the Welfare Agency of Westchester County, New York – specializing in child adoption. She married Norman in 1959 and they raised their family in the home they built in Mount Kisco, New York. Together, they enjoyed hiking, camping, the beach and gardening. They were long time members of St. Mark's Episcopal Church – where they were active members. She will always be remembered for her active participation in her children's interests – never missing a play, football game, swim meet, choir rehearsal, piano recital or scout meeting. A faithful diarist, who recorded life's daily events, Jackie loved books, and music – especially the "Golden Oldies", and the music of Rogers and Hammerstein. She had a true love of all animals – being sure that the family was never without a dog, cat, bird, fish or turtle to complement the household. After raising her family, Jackie returned to social work where she worked at multiple group homes helping those with disabilities or who were in need. During her later years, she continued to enjoy her home, children, grandchildren and, of course, her pets. Mom, we love and miss you. We will carry your love, strength of character, and discipline, with us always. Nous vous aimerons toujours. Funeral Services will be private, with interment at Kensico Cemetary, Valhalla New York. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
