Filamena (Fay) Amicucci of Yonkers, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 17, 2020 at Cabrini Nursing Home in Dobbs Ferry, New York.
Fay was born on December 20, 1918 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Giuseppina Filippelli and Robert Scorza. Fay was predeceased by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
On September 7, 1941 she married James Vincent Amicucci at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers, NY. They had four children, Rosalie Amicucci of Pomona, NY, Joan Vassari of Yonkers, NY, Barbara Berrios of Yonkers, NY and James V. Amicucci, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fay was the loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren, John D'Addario, Jr., Christine Hees, Karin Melendez, Jennifer Mejia, Nicol Berrios, Joey Berrios, James V. Amicucci III, Gavin Amicucci, Lindsey Amicucci and Alec Amicucci. She was the proud great-grandmother of 8 great grandchildren, Jazmin Melendez, Manny James Melendez, Nicholas Barbieri, Giuliana Barbieri, Alexandra Hees, Kristen Hees,, Gabriel Melendez and Layla Amicucci.
Fay was secretary at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers, NY from June 5, 1962 until 2015. She was originally hired to coordinate, collect and record pledges for a fund-raiser for the Mt. Carmel/St. Anthony Building Fund. Her office was in a small one room building in the Grotto next to the Church with no bathroom facilities. When security became a problem due to the amount of money she was handling her office was moved to the Rectory. She then became secretary for the church and worked in that capacity for the next 53 years.
Fay served as Journal Chairman and Dinner Chairman for the annual Mt. Carmel Dinner Dances; Chairman of the Cardinal's Campaign for over 40 years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Cardinal O'Connor for chairing Catholic Charities Cardinal Appeal for 30 years. She also taught C.C.D. and was President of the St. Ann's Sodality until her retirement.
Fay previously served as P.T.A. President and received the Jenkins Scholarship Award. She was President of the Veteran' Auxiliary of Post #77 for 15 years; a 7th Ward Democratic District Leader, Poll Inspector and a member of the Racquet Club on Park Hill, member of the Aquahung Women's Democratic Club, the Widow/Widowers Club of Yonkers, Enrico Fermi and Mt. Pleasant Italian-American Association.
Her hobbies included Tennis, bowling, dancing, arts and crafts, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
She had a beautiful life, a strong faith in God, a positive attitude, always kept a smile on her face and an unconditional love for her family. Fay was an amazing woman and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her…. especially her three daughters.
Her family would like to personally thank the staff at Cabrini Nursing Home for the loving care she received for the past two years.

Friends may call at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, New York on Sunday from 1-5 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 670 Yonkers Avenue on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 10:00 am. Entombment at Ferncliff Mausoleum.
