Debra (DeNiear) DeRosario passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side, on June 12, 2020 in Carmel, New York at the age of 64. Debra is survived by her husband of 21 years, James DeRosario of Carmel, daughter Jeanette (Jonathan) Rosen of Scarsdale and grandchildren Madeline and Philip, stepson James (Kristen) DeRosario and grandchildren Layla and Max and Brothers Walter DeNiear and David (Sharon) DeNiear. She is preceded in death by parents Walter and Joan DeNiear. Debra was born on October 19, 1955 in Bronxville, New York to Walter DeNiear and Joan (Schmidt) DeNiear. She graduated from Westlake High School in Thornwood, New York in 1973. She later graduated Berkeley Secretarial School and went on to spend her 40 year career in the Guidance Office at Westlake High School. Debra was accomplished at crafting, creating and crocheting. Anyone whose received a gift from her or attended one of her parties know her talents were endless. She was a compassionate individual who truly adored animals and gave a loving home to so many who would otherwise be homeless. She loved doing projects with her grandchildren and her visits were known for their painting, experiments and holiday or event specific crafts. She also had a passion for motorcycles. Debra and her husband were instrumental in organizing a motorcycle ride to ground zero. As they were the founders of The United Ride and The Gold Star Mothers Ride which raised money to help construct The Gold Star Mother's statue and a bench dedicated to The Gold Star Mother's in Carmel. She was loved by all, as to know her was to be warmed by her smile and kindness when in her presence. A celebration of life is scheduled for August 10th at Westlake High School at 12 noon. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Debra's life. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Best Friends Animal Society (https://bestfriends.org). Debra would be so happy to know that her passing could help save the animals she loved so much.
