Carol was in many ways a role model to me - I loved the ways in which she embraced Gene and Peter and along with Debbie and a few years later, David created a new family. She was a wonderful step mother to Peter and she lovingly embraced DeeDee into her family - As DeeDee's best friend - Carol even included me in family parties. In later years she gave me wise advice on being a good step mother. It is not easy merging together two families - and Carol did it with grace and ease - finding ways to make everyone feel welcome. My heart breaks for you, Debbie, Greg, David, Marybeth, Gene, Kathy, Peter and DeeDee.
