Joseph T Florin Sr. a lifelong resident of Yonkers, passed away peacefully August 14th at the age of 91. He was born November 21st, 1928, to the late Christopher and Elizabeth (Romano) Florin. He was the last of 13 siblings.
On October 3rd, 1953 Joseph married the love of his life Minnie (Santoro). Besides his wife he is survived by his 2 sons, Joseph T Jr. (Deborah) and Robert (Kim) and 5 grandchildren, Danielle (Dominick) Solitario, Joseph T III, Christopher (Siobhan), Nicholas and James.
Joseph served in the army during the Korean War in Company C 91st Heavy Tank Battalion 6th Armored Division 1st Platoon, he was in charge of training soldiers how to use rifles. Joseph worked for Philips Dodge for 20 years as a mechanic, one time everyone was asked if they had an idea of how to twist wires for manufacturing, because the engineers couldn’t figure out how to do this. Joseph worked on the idea and came up with a solution, the machine was invented and was used for many years. Joseph also worked for the city of Yonkers for 22 years as a truck mechanic. Joseph was a very active member in Sacred Heart church.
