Giuseppe Macri, a long time Yonkers Resident, died on August 29, 2020 at the age of 93. Giuseppe was born in Martone, Province Reggio Calabria, Italy on February 23, 1927 to Vincenzo Macri and Maria Rosa Ciurleo Macri. Giuseppe left Italy at a young age to find work. He traveled throughout Europe and South America working as a carpenter. He eventually emigrated to the United States and married Rosina Elena Agostino. He opened his own Pizzeria Restaurant in the Bronx, and then eventually opened Midland Avenue Pizzeria Restaurant in Yonkers. Giuseppe, or "Joe" as he was fondly referred to, was a staple to the Midland Avenue Community, and was loved and respected by all. He was a devout Catholic, who had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and The Divine Mercy, which he recited every day at 3:00 PM.
Devoted Father of Stephen (Grace) Macri of Yonkers, Vincent (Lidia) Macri of White Plains and Anthony (Jill) Macri of Mahopac. Beloved Grandfather of Giselle, Joseph(Dana), Amanda, Vincent, Marisa, Jonathan, Brittany, Briana, Ashley Macri and Alesandra(John) Pappas and Great-Grandfather of Maximilian and Blaise Macri. Dear brother of Maria Palermo of Italy, Half Brother of Angelina, Tito, Rita, Rosetta, Giovanni and Antonio of Italy. He is predeceased by his wife Rosina, whom he married on April 7, 1956, brother Rocco Macri, and sister Albina Russo.
There will be a viewing for friends at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-7 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Ann's Church, Midland Ave, Yonkers on Thursday at 10:00 AM. Entombment at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
