Robert Cultrara (Italy) posted a condolence

It is difficult if not impossible to list all the good memories involving Zia Mariuccia from here in Trieste, Italy.
During her journeys to Italy, we Cultrara’s always gathered up with her and the Musilli family. That has always been a cheerful and happy event, long awaited during the previous months.
Zia was bringing a good mood, telling stories while ending them with a contagious laugh. I like to remember her with that smile.
Over the years, she (toghether with Zio and cugini) managed to be present here in Italy all the important days of my family.
She was (and in our hearts she will be) always with us.
My family’s prayers and thoughts are with Zia and with our Musillis relatives.
Some words in her “triestino” dialect:
A Trieste sentimo che te ne manchi a tuti.
Non riusciamo a capacitarci che tu non sia qui tra noi. Preghiamo per te ma ci consola che ci guardi dal Cielo.

I heard the awful news last week - so sudden and so terrible: Zia Mariuccia had passed away.
The memories came back. When we were very little and my ma and pa would gather up my brother, sister and me for a visit to your big house on Park Hill in Yonkers. Zia and Zio (and their kids) treated as so well with so much natural and relaxed affection - our visits always seemed like a holiday.
Grazie Zia.

It’s incomprehensible to put into words just one beautiful memory of Aunt Mariuccia. She was one of the warmest, funniest and kindest women I have ever known. Blood relation was never necessary for her to extend her love. In 2006 I was chosen Miss Columbus in Yonkers. In my application essay we were asked what being Italian meant to us. I wrote about her. I mentioned the food and the traditions of course, but as I wrote the imagery that came to mind was the Musillis and the matriarch of the family, Aunt Mariuccia. Her unending kindness, generosity and charitable heart were what epitomized being Italian to me and made her an amazing role model to look up to.
I will always remember so many Thanksgivings with board games and funny stories, fun days shopping and cooking and even hosting my bridal shower in her home. She was always full of honest advice and warm hugs. I will miss her greatly and strive to honor her generosity of spirit every year, especially around Christmas (I remember all of her amazing decorations too! ❤️)

Although infrequent, my memories of Mrs Musilli are so strong. Whether in person, or video chat, she always greeted us with an energetic warmth that is tough to rival. My last conversation with her was filled with much joy and laughter as she met my youngest daughter. I am so grateful to have known her.
My condolences and prayers to all of you during this time.
All my love,
Michelle Minter
