Obituary of Peter J. Bambace

Peter J. "Barney" Bambace, a longtime Mt. Kisco resident, passed away peacefully in his home on January 2, 2021 at the age of 98. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Dellaero) Bambace. Devoted father of Rosellyn (Gary) Holmberg and Brenda (Nicholas) Baviello. Cherished grandfather of Allison (Jeremy) Schmid, Kenneth (Sabrina) Baviello, and Lauren (Robert) Giordano. Great grandfather of Sofia Lee and Luca Peter Baviello, and Evan Schmid. Born August 28, 1922 in West Harrison (Silver Lake) New York to Frank and Elizabeth (Marsico) Bambace, he was last surviving member of twelve siblings. Barney was a veteran of WWII having served with the Army Air Corp as a bomber mechanic. Barney married the love of his life Mary, in 1947 and they took residence in Mt. Kisco where he built their house. Barney was a retired trade carpenter and member of the local carpenter's union. A true handy-man, Barney never stopped moving, right up to his passing. He was affectionately referred to as "Mr. Fix" it. One would often find him doing repairs for family, friends, and local businesses. He loved finish carpentry and gardening. Barney was a member of American Legion Post 136, where he volunteered well into his 90s alongside his friends, serving the community. He was proud to be an American while cherishing his Italian heritage. Barney was a devout catholic and contributed to the St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Barney was fully devoted to his wife and entire family and loved lending a helping hand however he could. He always regarded his family and friends highly and was a positive light wherever he went. He was a man of integrity, devotion and kindness. His big smile and bigger heart will be missed by all. Due to the concern of Covid-19 the service and interment will be private.
