Joseph L Caloia, died on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at age 78. Born on May 12, 1942, to Joseph and Marie (Montato) Caloia in Yonkers, where he was raised. Joseph owned and operated J Caloia & Son Towing for many years. From there he started Cam Auto parts and was a partner in Tri State warehouse Distributers. On August 21, 1965 he married Patricia Rooney. She survives, living in New Rochelle NY. He was a beloved father to his four children, Jeffrey Caloia, Cynthia Komosinski and her husband Steve, Alissa Caloia, Joette Capraro and her husband Butch, Along with his ten grandchildren: Peter, Danielle, Katrina, Melissa, Amanda, Matt, Joey, Steven, Nicholas, and Tyler; And 4 great grandsons Matthew, Angelo, Lucas, and Lorenzo. He is also survived by three siblings, Joanne (Frank) Salciccia, Skip (Pat) Caloia, Donna (Al) Caloia, many nieces, nephews and friends. For over 30 years he dedicated himself to his community being labeled the "New Rochelle Christmas Man" He spent countless hours on his set up to insure the happiness in his family and neighbors faces, that he did. "I gotta get my head checked" was a classic line of his. He said it frequently, not only was he the man behind the christmas house he was the glue to our family. He was our Grandy. No matter the time of day if any of us needed him he would be there. His grandchildren were the lights in his life. Many days he spent playing nerf guns, watching TV, throwing snowballs, dropping snacks and playing around with his "little guys" He was the most loving, amazing, heroic, strong, selfless, hardworking & extraordinary husband, father, & Grandy.
Visiting hours will be at the Sinatra Memorial Home, 499 Yonkers Ave. Yonkers NY 10704 on Friday January 8th 3-7PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Monastery Church, 40 Convent Ave Yonkers NY 10703 on Saturday, January 9th, at 9:30 AM. Entombment Mt. Hope Cemetery.
