Obituary of Concetta Pellone

On January 13, 2021, Concetta ("Connie") Pellone passed away at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Dobbs Ferry, New York. Connie was born on April 25, 1939, to Nickolas Bellomo and Concetta Dolcemascolo in their family home on Avenue Q in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up with her four siblings – Philip, Peter, Annette, and Jeanette. Connie was a proud Brooklynite and daughter of Italian immigrants.
After a long fight against rheumatic fever, Connie graduated from Adelphi High School. Shortly after graduating, Connie married her love, Salvatore Pellone, in Our Lady of Grace Church in Brooklyn, New York on February 12, 1961. In 1963, She gave birth to her daughter, Camille and in 1966, she gave birth to her son, Neil. -- both of whom she loved dearly. Connie and her husband, Salvatore, owned and operated pizzerias in Brooklyn and Washingtonville, New York. After Salvatore's passing in 1989, Connie joined St. Anthony's Hospital as their vivacious switchboard operator in Warwick, New York. She then retired to her beloved Boca Raton, Florida where she spent twelve years poolside with new and old friends.
Connie spent her final year surrounded by family and friends in New York. She will be remembered for her charm, spirit, artful crocheting, and generous heart. Connie was a fun and lively mother and grandmother that will be dearly missed. She is loved and survived by her children -- Camille and Neil, her son- and daughters-in-law -- Kenneth McKay and Maria Lizardo, her grandchildren -- Nia Pellone, Ian Zweig, Jaclyn McKay, Will Monkowski, Salvatore Pellone II., Jessica McKay, Ella Pellone, and Justin Romero, her best friend -- Barbara Campbell, and her pets -- Babi, Charlie, and Sally. May her soul finally rest and heal. She will be missed and loved each day and honored through the stories we share of her life and impact. Rest in peace, GCon. We love you.
