Obituary of Bianca Mastroddi

Please share a memory of Bianca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bianca Mastroddi of Westchester, NY passed away peacefully on February 3rd, 2021 at the age of 90. Bianca was born on November 1st, 1930 in Tagliacozzo, a small town in Abruzzo, Italy, to Luigi and Assunta Santini. She was the youngest of her siblings, Francesco, Maria, and Paolina, who always remained bonded through the years by deep love and respect. At the age of 22, Bianca married the love of her life, Santo Mastroddi. She settled in Yonkers with her new family that greeted her with open arms. She dedicated her adult life to being a loving wife and a caring mother. Bianca was a highly skilled seamstress who, after many years of working in a dress factory perfecting her expertise, continued to create impeccably detailed custom clothing for her clients, family, and friends throughout her life. She was as equally renowned for her exquisite craftsmanship as she was for her generosity and cordiality offering her homemade delicacies and her time to lend an ear or give advice. She was a devout Catholic and a committed practitioner of her faith, saying novenas and praying the rosary whenever she could for health, happiness, and peace for all those she loved. Bianca was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus of Yonkers and was proud to be part of a very close knit community of Tagliacozzani. Bianca happily transferred to Katonah to join her daughter, son-in-law and her four grandchildren in 1996. The family felt privileged to have Nonna's wisdom, perfection and courage to draw from. She doted on her grandchildren into their adulthood and found great joy in sharing her cooking and baking with them, though she was always on a very strict low cholesterol diet. When she laughed they knew they had really been funny and when she yelled they knew they had really been very bad. They never chanced being bad in front of Nonna! Her only indulgences were her love for TV soap operas and Italian romance magazines, and of course her famously long conversations on the phone with her favorite people. Bianca is survived by her loving daughter Lucy Mastroddi Pitaro and son-in-law, Robert Pitaro MD, her four grandchildren, Jennifer, Stefanie, Daniella, and Robert Jr.; sister-in-law, Naide, and brother-in-law, Angelo Santini, and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews in the United States, Italy, and England. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 6th, 2021 at St. Joseph's Church in Somers, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Wounded Warrior Project, or Boys Town.
