Obituary of Luigia Miele

Please share a memory of Luigia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Luigia Miele, affectionately known as "Gina", peacefully departed this Earth and was called to her heavenly home after a brief battle with ALS on Sunday, February 21, 2021 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of Francesco Miele, adored mother to Lino (Jennifer), Roberto (Brenda), and Nicola (AnnMarie) who was also a loving Nonna to her 10 grandchildren Francesco, Angelina, Nikko, Giana, AJ, Francesca, Giavanna, Robbie, Daniella and Max. Gina was also a loving sister to her six siblings and an aunt to countless nieces and nephews. Luigia was born in Esperia, Rome in the province of Frosinone on November 21, 1942 to Gaetano Franco and Francesca Frisilli. She raised her three sons with love and devotion in the city of Yonkers where she resided for 46 years. She worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her children. She proudly worked for the Yonkers Public Schools where she made lifelong friends. She loved her job where she cooked for the district. Cooking for her family was a true joy in her life. There was always an abundance of food and love at Nonna Gina's house. Her most memorable trait was her contagious laugh and sense of humor. She was happiest at home surrounded by her family and her grandchildren whom she adored. She cherished the simple things in life; sitting in the backyard on her swing, an occasional glass of wine, & passing on the tradition of making her own tomato sauce every summer. While her family grieves her loss, they take comfort in the beautiful memories they made and feel blessed to have had her in their life..
