Dear Sirs,
We are writing to you from Italy, about the death of Anna Maria Cassanelli. We work at the Biblioteca Statale di Montevergine, nearby Avellino, and our library is connected to the Abbey of Montevergine, where there is an ancient image of the Virgin Mary to whom Italian people (and expecially immigrants to America were) are very devout.
For an extraordinary coincidence we have found the letter that her father sent to the official magazine of the abbey "Il Santuario di Montevergine", on february 29th, 1988, just a few days ago. In this letter he expressed his gratetutude to the Virgin Mary for healing the broken arm of the girl, who had been injured in car crash in Italy. A happy intuition of a sensitive colleague librarian led us to your web page, in which you published the same nice portait of young Anna that he had found in the pages of the magazine he was cataloging. In our work on books and archives we often bump into sparks or traces of people's lives, and this time we have been touched by the sorrow of a father who lost her daughter.
We'd be very grateful if you could report our condolences to the Cassanelli family, and tell them that a special prayer will be recited for Anna in Montevergine.

Today I sit quietly in somber thoughts of the days, years and moments we spent together. You shared your inner most worries and joys with me over the years we shared laughter and tears. You tried to help many people without expectations of anything but friendship in return. RIP my friend God keep you close.

Dearest AnneMarie. I cannot express how grieved I am to hear a soul such as yours, who had so much fire and light, has left us so unexpectedly. You still had so much left to give and so much life still left to live—Brightly, boldly and to the fullest. You were such a dear, dedicated and special part of our Fellowship: Primary Purpose will not be the same without you. You were such a warm and supportive presence to newcomers and lifers alike, who made so many feel so special and welcome the singularly darkest times of our lives. You always went out of your way to make the most wounded of us feel like we most belonged. You gave of yourself so fully, never expecting anything in return, and you left our little world so much better than you found it, just by being who you are. Every day, you were such a funny, honest, supportive, encouraging and strong power of example in our program—a woman of principal, integrity, courage and most of all: heart. You leave this earthly journey as a shining success story in my book—because you remained clean abs sober until your last breath. For people like us, that is the accomplishment of a lifetime. I love you AnneMarie, and will never forget the unconditional care and humanity you showed to me as a new-comer (who throws a complete stranger a baby shower! Lol. You—that’s who!): a then how much you grew to mean to me as a fellow woman in recovery, and then finally, how I came to love you as a friend. I only hope to be of such service to our community as you have been to so many. Serenity=Acceptance+Courage+Wisdom. Until we meet again.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of AnneMarie I knew her she was good friends with my sister AnnaRita who also passed away 8yrs ago. They use to let me hangout with them and I remember having so much fun with them and always looked up to AnneMarie. Her family was so sweet especially her mom which I just heard passed away too we use to do a lot of hanging out at her kitchen table and I remember her brother Danny kept us laughing with his funny stories. I hope she’s is in peace and with her mom and now she’s reunited with her friend AnnaRita. Rest In Peace sweet AnneMarie and my sincere condolences to her family.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Annemarie. We had lost touch over the years. But the times I spent with her were special. She was caring, kind and generous with a great smile. When we were younger we would spend time together with her other friends and I was always welcomed by her wonderful family into their home. Thoughts and prayers to her dad, brother Danny and the rest of the family. May she rest in peace with her mom in the loving hands of our Lord in heaven.

My Dear sweet Anna Marie. The memories I have of you I could go one for days. Your laugh and smile and heart of gold. Your caring to all you came across. I remember so many days sitting in your house or you coming to mine and just spending hours laughing. God has another angel looking down on us to keep us safe. Forever you remain in my heart. My condolences to your family at this time. Till we meet again rest easy. Love you. Karen

Anne Marie was a wonderful spirit. I feel heartbroken. She made me laugh so hard and I loved the twinkle in her eye. One night about 2 years ago, we danced for hours with others at a party. She was also very compassionate, we were both caregivers to our parents. I will really miss her and send her father and loved ones as much strength. She is missed and she was loved by many.
