Obituary of Maria Teresa DaSilva

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Maria T. Dasilva who was known to many as Teresa departed this Earth and was called to her heavenly home. Beloved wife to Manuel who passed in 2002, and faithful companion to Antonio for the last 15+ years. Beloved Mother to Richard her only son. Mother in Law to Queeny and loving Grandma to sweet Ericka. Teresa was also a loving sister to her 4 siblings and an aunt to many nieces and nephews both in the U.S. and Portugal; the country of her birth. Teresa was born in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal on September 19th, 1949 to Adriano Manuel and Francelina Borga. She came to the United States with her husband in the '60s where she worked tirelessly most of her adult life in the Healthcare field as a Nursing Assistant. She worked for 30+ years at St. John's Riverside Hospital, where she took care of so many people in the community and took pride in her work there. She was well known in the Portuguese community and especially known for her passion and love of cooking. If there was a gathering or meal to be prepared you could always count on Teresa being there with an apron on and a smile on her face. For most of the holidays, Teresa could be found in the kitchen preparing something delicious for her family and friends to enjoy together. She was the glue that brought people together no matter the occasion. Teresa enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her family especially for Queeny and her granddaughter Ericka. She loved to travel when she was able to and work in the garden at home as well. While her family is heartbroken and saddened they take comfort in knowing that she no longer suffers and is at peace resting till we all meet again.
